LAS VEGAS (March 27, 2008) – Cornell University’s world-renowned School of Hotel Administration, Center for Hospitality Research, will be spotlighted at the new Resort Technology Forum, a special added attraction at the sixth Gaming Technology Summit. Co-produced by BNP Media Gaming Group and WhiteSand Consulting, the Summit is the gaming industry’s premier technology conference. The Resort Technology Forum will be an afternoon workshop on May 20, prior to the official start of the Summit, which continues through May 22 at the Green Valley Ranch in Las Vegas.
The Forum will provide a unique educational opportunity for attendees, who will learn about recent developments in hotel room technologies and what the future holds for the gaming and hospitality industry. The workshop will also feature cutting-edge hospitality products from the industry’s most innovative technology companies.
“Room technology is evolving at an amazing speed, and resorts will need to make decisions about their existing room inventory and future expansions. This forum will give executives important information they can use in their planning efforts,” said Dave Sherwyn, Director of the Center for Hospitality Research at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration.
Speakers include Stephani Robson from Cornell, Raj Chandnani from design and architectural firm WATG and Saverio R. Scheri III, WhiteSand’s Managing Director. The focus of the Resort Technology Forum will be to explore new technology that will enhance the guest experience in the room. Ideas and concepts to drive revenue, decrease costs and enhance the overall stay experience will be discussed, allowing attendees to understand what technology to implement today, and how to plan for the future.
“The lines between gaming and hospitality have long been parallel, and now with more than 50% of a casino resort’s revenue often coming from non-gaming profit centers, the lines have blurred into a singular vision,” said Scheri. “The Resort Technology Forum bridges that line allowing the free-flowing exchange between hospitality innovators and gaming veterans.”
After the Forum, the Summit begins on May 21 with an opening keynote address from Tim Stanley, Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President of Innovation, Gaming & Technology for Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc. Later that day, a luncheon keynote address will be made by Tom Peck, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for MGM Mirage.

The Summit is co-produced by WhiteSand Consulting, which provides strategy, operations and technology consulting services to the gaming and hospitality industries; and BNP Media Gaming Group, the leading producer of trade magazines, newsletters and trade shows serving the gaming industry around the world.
