LAS VEGAS
(April 17, 2007) – The Gaming Technology Summit will include for the
first time a series of conference sessions focusing on technology in
the lottery industry. The new lottery track recognizes the
importance of lotteries in the gaming industry, and the intersecting
technology paths of lotteries and casinos. These sessions will be
presented on May 24, the final day of the fifth annual Summit,
scheduled for May 22-24 at the Green Valley Ranch in Las Vegas.
Already, more and more lotteries are
using games that borrow from the excitement of casino games, but
that still meet the definition of a lottery. And this trend is sure
to continue in the future.
“Lotteries can’t survive with the
technology of yesteryear, with numbers games and lotto, because
their competition is far more technologically savvy and provides
more interactive products,” said Buddy Roogow, director of the
Maryland Lottery, one of the Summit’s speakers. “You have to make
things exciting for players, and give them a different way to relate
to lotteries. This is the kind of conference that lottery
professionals need to attend, because it’s going to open their eyes
to what’s going on outside the lottery world.”
Other highlights of the Summit
include the return of the Project Management Forum, an expanded
conference program and an outstanding lineup of presenters,
including three top keynote speakers: Thomas J. Matthews, Chairman
of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of IGT; Felix
Rappaport, President and Chief Operating Officer of Luxor; and Jay
Walker, Chairman of Walker Digital LLC, entrepreneur and founder of
Priceline.

to learn new skills, integrate systems and make hardware and
software investment decisions. More than 500 technology
professionals and vendors from the United States, Canada, Australia,
Mexico and the United Kingdom attended GTS 2006.

also available. Any company interested in being a part of GTS should
