LAS VEGAS (June 1, 2006) – PokerTek Inc., IGT and
Global Cash Access were the big winners at Casino Journal's
Most Innovative Gaming Technology Products of 2005 Awards ceremony
last week at the Fourth Annual Gaming Technology Summit.
The winning entries were:
- Platinum Award: PokerPro™, from PokerTek Inc., is a
poker table and a computer system combined into one, using a
fully automated server-based gaming platform. With a
touch-screen and a 40-inch monitor in the center of the table,
10 players compete against each other in the game of Texas
Hold’Em. Each player screen displays cards, chips, timers and
betting options.
- Gold Award: Server-Based (sb™) Products from
International Game Technology provide high-speed delivery of
game downloads, content, configuration (including denominations,
payback percentages, volume level and deal speed), scheduling
and remote game ordering via secured transactions.
- Silver Award: EDITH (Electronic Debit Interactive
Terminal Housing) system from Global Cash Access was developed
in partnership with IGT. It is a compact kiosk placed at the end
of a row of slot machines. Players can purchase slot tickets
with their ATM debit card, so they don’t have to walk long
distances to find an ATM and lose the “hot” slot machine they
were playing.
A panel of expert judges evaluated this year's entries and
selected the Top 20 Most Innovative Gaming Technology Products. The
450 attendees to the Fourth Annual Gaming Technology Summit (May
24-25 at the Green Valley Ranch in Las Vegas) were eligible to vote
for their favorite products and services from the Top 20. From that
voting, platinum, gold and silver medals for the Most Innovative
Gaming Technology Products for 2005 were selected. The three winners
were honored during the keynote luncheon on Day 2 of the Summit, and
will be featured in the July edition of Casino Journal.
Judges for the Top 20 were Gregg Solomon, founder of Intellectual
Gaming LLC and CEO of Detroit Entertainment, L.C.C., owner and
operator of MotorCity Casino; Glenn Bonner, senior vice president of
information services, MGM Mirage; Ursula Conway, CIO, Ameristar
Casinos; David Paster, independent contractor, Yarborough Planning.
