LAS
VEGAS (May 18, 2004) — A group of top gaming analysts and
financial leaders will discuss the crucial role that technology
plays in the financial health of the gaming industry during a panel
discussion at Gaming Technology Summit, May 25-26 at Green Valley
Ranch in Las Vegas.
The
“Wall Street and Technology ROI” panel at 4 p.m. May 26 will
feature panelists Glenn
Christenson, CFO, Station Casinos, Inc.; Marc Falcone, Managing Director, Gaming Analyst, Deutsche Bank
Securities, Inc.; and David
Vas, Equity Research Analyst, Bank of America.
Publicly-owned
gaming companies are, first and foremost, charged with maximizing
returns to shareholders. This mandate often puts a strain on the
evaluation of technology investments, the impacts of which can be
difficult to quantify, especially short-term. CFOs understand the
long-term value of significant technology investments, but how do
they convince Wall Street?
“Investors
are increasingly interested in the impact of new gaming technologies
on profits, and their judgments affect the valuation of gaming
operators and suppliers,” said session moderator Charles Anderer,
Director of Product Development, Ascend Media Gaming Group,
co-producer of Gaming Technology Summit. “Technology executives
will gain important insights from this panel on how technology
purchases are evaluated at the CFO level and which technologies and
trends are most interesting to investors.”
The
Wall Street panel is just one of 27 seminars presented during the
two-day conference, which is unique among gaming conferences in that
most sessions will be led by one or two knowledgeable professionals,
allowing the presenters more time to delve deeper into issues and
solutions than is possible with a more traditional speaker/panelist
format.
Gaming
Technology Summit also features three outstanding keynote addresses.
Gary
Loveman, CEO of Harrah’s
Entertainment, will be the featured keynote speaker, providing the
remarks at the Opening Day General Session May 25. Glenn
Bonner, CIO of MGM MIRAGE, will provide the luncheon keynote
address on May 25; and Bob Boughner, CEO of the Borgata in Atlantic City, will provide the
keynote address on May 26.
The
host hotel, the Green Valley Ranch, is already sold out. Alternative
lodging is available nearby at Courtyard
by Marriott, 2800 N. Green Valley Parkway, which is offering rooms
for $109 a night for GTS participants. To make reservations, call
1-800-321-2211. Be sure to mention Gaming Technology Summit.
GTS is presented by Ascend Media Gaming Group and WhiteSand
