Gaming Technology Summit to Examine Slot Floor Future
LAS VEGAS (April 25, 2011) – Technologies that are driving evolutionary and revolutionary change on the slot floor will be spotlighted at the ninth annual Gaming Technology Summit to be held at the Green Valley Ranch here May 23-25.
Among the topics will be a progress report on server-based gaming, the potential for new network technologies to transform the floor and the impact of mobile personal technologies on both slot operators and manufacturers. The impact of device and system interoperability will be at the center of a full track of sessions produced by the Gaming Standards Association (GSA).
“Slot revenue is the commercial heartbeat of our industry so, each year, our goal is to produce the best slot technology conference in gaming,” said Saverio R. Scheri III, Managing Director at WhiteSand Gaming, co-producer of the Summit along with BNP Media. “This year’s program delivers on that commitment with the right combination of practical and forward-looking slot technology sessions.”
Gaming Technology Summit attendees will be able to choose among the following slot technology sessions:
• Innovative Products: Standards allow manufacturers to build on existing processes thus eliminating the need for costly new designs while pushing through newer and better innovations at a faster speed. Hear how the most innovative products designed to run on GSA standards are used to achieve success.
• Industry Collaboration: A dynamic roundtable discussion with the top Chief Technology Officers in the gaming industry discuss and compare notes on the challenges of new technology, implementation, trends, and best practices.
• Server-Based Gaming: Server based gaming and downloadable games continue to expand in the industry with the promise of lower costs, better security, and customer personalization, but have we delivered on these promises, and are they impacting the bottom line as we had hoped?
• Server-Centric Gaming: Server-centric is a term you’ve probably never heard of but the technology it represents can cut the cost of gaming machines by half. John Acres describes how this technology works, the benefits it delivers and where it is already approved and running in several United States casinos.
• Slot Manufacturers Build Outside the Box: IPads and tablets are changing the way we live and work, and will change the way we game, while smart phones continue to become more essential to our day-to-day lives. Hear how slot manufacturers continue to leverage content through online, interactive and mobile technologies, and what these strategies mean for their future growth and for gaming operators.
• Vendor presentations: Konami Gaming, Bally Technologies, Aristocrat Technologies, IGT and WMS Gaming will each offer in-depth presentations on their latest game and system technologies.
In addition to the wealth of slot session content at Gaming Technology Summit, the conference program will address a broad selection of online and mobile gaming topics, and cutting-edge technologies such as social media and cloud computing. An impressive line-up of keynote presenters includes Steve Murphy, Chief Strategy Officer, Microsoft; Michelle Tinsley, GM Embedded Technology, Intel Corp.; and Paul Steelman, CEO, Steelman Partners. Winners of Casino Journal’s Top 20 Most Innovative Gaming Technology Products will receive their awards prior to Tinsley’s keynote address on May 25, and the top three finishers, as well as the Attendee Choice award winner, will be announced.
The main program includes over 30 information-packed conference sessions and vendor workshops during its two-day run. As a pre-event bonus to all conference attendees, Mike Wood returns with his popular pre-show Project Management Workshop on May 23, and presenting sponsor GSA will again offer pre-show workshops that are open to all Summit attendees.
